You can start eating after the surgery is complete; however, you might want to delay eating due to feeling tired from the general or local anesthesia that was administered.
Soft foods and liquids such as cooked eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, and other very soft cheeses, soups, sugar-free fruit or vegetable juices or smoothies, oatmeal, wheat cereal, applesauce, pasta and cheese, and soft bread are recommended. Choosing softer foods over harder ones will support the healing process following the recent surgical procedure and help prevent any discomfort caused by eating after surgery.
For the first few days, it’s particularly advisable to stick to liquids and soft foods like soups, protein drinks, smoothies, and fruit juices. It’s important to avoid crunchy, hard, or chewy foods during this period as they could cause discomfort and extend the healing process by causing trauma to the surgical area.
Once the healing is complete, which typically takes a few weeks, you can return to eating whatever you desire. Since implants function like natural teeth, any food that can be consumed with natural teeth can also be enjoyed with implants.
