Diabetes is not a contraindication for implant treatment. In fact, many diabetic patients may require more implant treatments because diabetes can negatively affect the gums, leading to quicker tooth loss.
However, for this treatment to be successful, it is crucial that the patient’s diabetes is well-controlled. Additionally, certain tests are required, and at our clinic, we base all our planning on the results of these tests. These tests allow us to monitor the patient’s blood sugar levels on a monthly, three-monthly, and immediate basis. The results of the HbA1c test, in particular, help us determine whether the patient is at an appropriate time for implant treatment.
